In fact, Summit seeks to certify all of its properties by the American Tree Farm System (ATFS). The ATFS is the oldest and largest forest certification and conservation program in the United States. Now, the Geneva-based Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) has announced its endorsement of ATFS after a 14 month review. PEFC is an international organization that promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification.

In addition to ATFS, Summit-managed properties comply with Best Management Practices as promulgated by each state's forestry regulator.
