International Paper, Booz-Allen, the World Bank and Peace Corps.
- Strong background in sustainability includes:
- Started his career as Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica in
a program that addressed tropical deforestation through
low-interest loans for small-scale tree planting.
- Did masters-level research on 'Debt for Nature Swaps' and
made presentations on that, as well as on 'Undervaluation of
Natural Resources.'
- Was one of the original 4 foresters in Sustainable Forest
Technologies, an International Paper subsidiary formed in 1995.
Its mission was to bring sustainable forest management, and
especially prompt reforestation, to non-industrial landowners.
- Mr. Loome's emphasis has been in reforestation with
fast-growing - carbon-sequestering trees - while at
Peace Corps, International Paper, and a TIMO.
